This term, the Year 5 class has started a Pen Pal writing project with Huntingdale Primary School in Western Australia. Almost all of the boys have now written their letters and they will be sent off shortly.
This is a great opportunity for the boys to develop the art of letter writing. They are already grasping the style well and their confidence in writing in cursive has improved with practice.
Thanks to Mrs. Badr for coordinating the Australia Post Pen Pal program at Wollemi.
The students of Year 5 are also working very well through the Oxford Maths Program. Each week they complete a pre-test on a new topic, before working through guided, independent, and extended practice pages and finally sitting a post-test at the end of the week. For homework, they are completing activity sheets with more of a real-world application to the given topic, also from Oxford Maths.
