Mr Myer has been doing extraordinary things with the boys. He organised a production and filming industry with Western Sydney University experience for the Year 9 and 10 students this term. We would like to thank Western Sydney University for an informative, and practical experience of the challenges of student life.
The boys got to experience university life in terms of exploring the facilities the university had to offer as well as meals in the food court (courtesy of vouchers in the food court). During the presentation, students were immersed in the production techniques, visual design, and the technical processes of filming that will hopefully plant a seed for what the boys can achieve in the future. We also looked into the different rooms that the university students use to talk to their clients and work on their assessments. Visual editing rooms, photography facilities, the importance of communication and of lighting setups all gave the boys a painted picture of the creative process of visual design.
“Adventure is out there!” quote from Eli (Disney’s ‘UP’).
A great adventure on the day, with rain, puddles, trains, train doors closing too quickly, detours and shuttle buses, “a very chilled out excursion” as one of the students commented, but this would not have happened if it wasn’t for the Wollemi boys' maturity and enthusiasm. Well done boys! Special thanks to Mr. Myer for his support and for taking the time to organise this experience.
