Yoav N, Year 6 Primary Vice-Captain, recently won first prize out of 400 applicants nationwide in the Years 5/6 short story category for The Pens Against Poverty writing competition!
He wrote a short story on a young boy's encounter with a homeless person. Yoav wrote about this topic because he believes homeless people deserve safety, including shelter and food. He received a letter from Pens Against Poverty along with a book and a $50 Dymocks card.
The Pens Against Poverty is a unique writing competition for school students in Years 3 – 10 that encourages teachers and students to become educated in the important issues of poverty and homelessness in our communities in Australia.
