On Monday the 9th of May, we were blessed to have over 80 mums, a handful of grandmothers and even one aunty join us at the College for our Mother’s Day Mass and Morning Tea. It was wonderful to welcome these amazing ladies back onto the school site, after a long hiatus due to COVID. It was our opportunity as a school to recognise the rich contributions our mums make in the lives of our young men and their families.
The celebrations began with a Mass led by Father Anthony. Father Anthony shared a beautiful homily about the importance of motherhood. This was followed by a delicious morning tea with lots of goodies and sweet treaties - courtesy of our boys' and fathers’ culinary skills. It was so great to hear the vibrant conversation and laughter that filled the room. Even the rain could not dampen the spirits of our mums. I know a number of mums enjoyed the photos of the staff with their mothers that decorated the room. Many of our Primary mums stayed on for the Primary Mother’s Day Assembly in the Cola where they heard some heartfelt Mother’s Day poems recited by boys from Years two to six.
Thank you to all those mums who made the time to attend and for those families who made the many treats to share. A big thank must also go to the ladies in the Front Office - Camille, Bless, Nancy and Yvonne, and Mr. Vassallo for all their efforts in organising this event. They did a fantastic job. Finally to all our Wollemi mums, thank you for everything you do for our young men. They are truly blessed to have you in their lives.
